I tried using a drone for a surface survey and got way more than I expected

We were mapping a potential site in the Mojave, and the drone picked up a faint circular pattern we couldn't see from the ground. It turned out to be the foundation of a small homestead from the 1880s. Has anyone else had a simple survey method reveal something major like that?

That "faint circular pattern" thing is exactly why I changed my mind on this stuff. I used to think drones were just for fancy photos, maybe a bit of a gimmick for real work. But finding something like an old foundation that you literally cannot see with your own eyes, that's wild. It makes you realize how much history is just sitting there, invisible. I mean, idk, maybe it's just me but that would totally change how I look at any open land now. You just never know what's under your feet.

Know exactly what you mean. It really does change how you see the world.

Yeah, that "invisible history" line makes me feel like I've been walking around with my eyes closed.
