Spent 6 hours trying to match a Roman pot shard in Spain before realizing it was a modern fake

Ngl, I was on a dig near Seville last month and found what looked like a perfect 2nd century terra sigillata rim piece. I spent almost 6 hours cross-referencing it with known types from the local museum catalog, drove myself crazy until a retired professor walked by and pointed out the glaze was way too uniform. Has anyone else wasted a ton of time on a reproduction that slipped into their site?

Glaze was way too uniform" - I always check the bottom for that now.

Also check the foot ring profile, fakes never get that right either.
