Update: Dropped $200 on a "certified" artifact authentication from an online service and it turned out to be a guy with a Google search
Mailed photos and measurements of a point I found near a creek in southern Ohio to a site that promised a certificate in 5 days, and all I got back was a printout quoting a 1970s typology book plus a note saying "likely Archaic," which I already knew from a free forum, so has anyone found a legit lab or grad student who will look at a piece without charging more than the point is worth?
