Got chewed out by a librarian at the city archives
I was at the Denver Public Library Western History section looking up old property records. The librarian told me I was handling the maps wrong because I had lotion on my hands. Had no idea hand oils could damage documents that old. Has anyone else run into weird rules at archives or libraries?

Got yelled at by a lady at the Library of Congress once for touching a 1800s map with sunscreen on my hands. Looked like a greasy crime scene. Now I keep a pack of those blue nitrile gloves in my car like some kind of weirdo, but hey, better than getting scolded by a librarian again. Bet they look at lotion the way I look at a bag of chips near a keyboard and think "danger zone.

Bit dramatic, it's just sunscreen not battery acid.
