Had to choose between a saltwater and freshwater tank for my first aquarium. Picked salt. What a disaster.
I was debating between a 20 gallon saltwater or a 40 gallon freshwater setup. I went salt because I wanted the colorful fish. Three weeks in, I lost two clownfish to a pH swing I couldn't control. Now I'm stuck with a half-empty tank and $150 worth of dead rock. Any tips for balancing a nano tank without going broke?

Did you test your water source before adding the fish or just wing it?
