Honestly I asked a question about fixing a leaky faucet and ended up with a full plumbing diagram from a retired engineer

Haven't we all been there though? It's like they forget we just want the 30 second fix not a whole masterclass. I had a neighbor do that with my lawnmower one time. I asked him why it was sputtering and he brought out a whole tool set and a diagram. I stood there for an hour nodding while he explained carburetors and fuel lines. It is sweet that they care enough to go that deep but sometimes you just want to say "dude, just tell me if I need to smack it or tighten a screw.

My buddy just wanted to know why his car was making a noise. He got a 12 paragraph email back about metallurgy and stress fractures from his uncle, a former mechanic. Sometimes people just have too much knowledge to share. It's kind of sweet but also a lot.

Oh man, that is so real. My dad does the same thing with computers. Ask him why a website is slow and you get a 45 minute talk about server architecture and internet backbone history. It comes from a good place, but you just wanted the simple fix, you know?
