I tried to fix my own website's 404 error and it turned into a three day thing

I got a weird 404 on my site's contact page and thought I'd just tweak the .htaccess file. Two hours later, I'm deep in server logs and my friend Dave in Portland is on a video call trying to help. It turned out to be a single missing slash in a redirect rule I wrote six months ago. Has anyone else lost a weekend to a tiny typo like that?

Oh man, the "single missing slash" is a classic (been there). I once spent an entire afternoon because I had a comma in the wrong place in a config file. It's always the tiny thing you wrote months ago that comes back to haunt you.
