I was reading an old plumbing code book and found a stat that made me stop
It said about 10% of home water use is from leaks, and a lot of that is from toilet flappers. I found this in a footnote of a 2022 manual from the city water department. I check flappers on every job now because most folks don't know they wear out. How often do you all check for silent leaks in your own place?

Honestly, I probably should check mine more. I only think about it when I hear that faint hissing sound, which means it's been bad for a while. My water bill last quarter was a quiet, expensive reminder.

Yeah, that hissing sound is how I found a leak under my sink last month, @thompson.brian.
