Learned last week that 3 year old garden soil can actually be revived with coffee grounds and compost

I mixed in 5 pounds of used coffee grounds from the local cafe into my raised beds near Portland and the tomato plants doubled in size within 10 days, has anyone else found a weird trick that actually works for old dirt?

Tried burying fish heads under my squash once, worked weirdly well.
