Walked into a bookstore in Asheville and realized something weird about the lighting

I went to this indie bookshop downtown last weekend and noticed every single lamp was pointed at the walls, not the books. Like they were trying to make the place feel cozy but I could barely read the titles on the low shelves. Has anyone else noticed bookstores are getting darker for the aesthetic?

Four lamps pointed at the walls is basically them saying "we want the vibe of a dim speakeasy but still need to sell books." I get going for cozy but when I have to use my phone flashlight to read a spine on the bottom shelf it kind of kills the mood. Feels like they put more thought into Instagram photos than actual browsing.
