Why does nobody talk about how crowded the Grand Canyon actually is?

I went to the Grand Canyon last July and honestly, it felt more like a shopping mall than a national park. The South Rim had lines of people 30 deep just to get a photo at Mather Point. Everyone talks about the beauty but nobody warns you about the traffic jams on Desert View Drive.

Yeah, that "lines of people 30 deep just to get a photo" part really hit home for me. I mean, did you end up actually hiking any of the trails, or was it just fighting crowds the whole time? Because I went in October hoping itd be quieter, but the shuttle lines were still pretty bad. Idk why nobody talks about how the whole experience feels more like a theme park with the crowds and the buses. Maybe it's just me but I feel like the park service should cap the number of visitors per day or something. Did you get to see any of the less popular spots like the North Rim, or was it too far out of the way?
