Appreciation post: My best astro photo came from a night everyone else at the star party said was a bust.

While everyone packed up early because of high cirrus clouds, I stuck it out and caught a 30-second exposure of the Orion Nebula with this beautiful, soft glow that looked way better than my usual crystal-clear shots.

Actually, that's a reflection nebula.

Wait, you can tell just by looking at it? How does that even work? I thought you needed a spectrometer or something to know for sure. What's the giveaway here, the color or the shape?

Isn't it wild how some people can just spot these things like it's nothing, I found a weird rock once and my buddy called it quartz before I even pulled out my phone?
