Last month I packed the car, drove out past North Platte to get away from town lights, and got exactly four frames before the cold killed the battery. Now I keep two spares in my jacket pocket, but I'm wondering if anyone has a cold weather setup that actually holds a charge.
Sounds like the Milky Way owed you money and skipped town. Four frames for 90 minutes of driving is a rough trade, but at least Nebraska has plenty of nothing to look at while you wait. Cold kills camera batteries the same way it kills your will to live out there, so spares in your jacket is smart. Hand warmers taped to the battery door works better than people admit, just don't let them get too hot.
