I was all in on a widefield Milky Way shot until I saw Saturn through a friend's 8-inch Dobsonian...
Spent two hours setting up the tripod and tracking mount near Big Bend last Saturday, but one look at those rings through that scope made me sell my star tracker on Craigslist the next morning - has anyone else switched from widefield to planetary after seeing that?

Had the exact same thing happen to me last year. Was out with my astro club and someone's 14-inch dob popped Jupiter into focus with the GRS and all. Sold my widefield gear the next week. Picked up a used C8 and a cheap planetary cam, never looked back. The detail on Saturn is honestly addictive, way more satisfying than a faint milky way blur.
