My trip to Mauna Kea changed how I shoot star trails forever
Honestly, I drove up to the visitor center at Mauna Kea last month just to scope out the parking lot for night shots. The ranger told me to turn off all my car lights and use a red headlamp, which I thought was overkill at first. But after 20 minutes, I noticed my long exposures came out way cleaner because no white light leaked into the frame from other cars. Now I bring a cheap red flashlight on every shoot, even at local parks. Has anyone else found a spot where the rules forced them to change their whole process?
