Spent 5 years stacking my astro photos before I got it right

I've been taking pictures of the moon and planets since 2019. For the longest time I'd just stack everything in Registax and call it good. Last month I pulled up an old shot of Jupiter from 2021 and realized the detail was all mushy. I had been using the wrong wavelet settings the whole time... just clicking auto and moving on. A buddy on another forum pointed out I was over-sharpening every single layer. After I fixed it, that same old photo had cloud bands I never even knew were there. Has anyone else had that moment where you look back at your old edits and cringe?

Old photos are just proof you were learning, nothing to cringe over.

Wait, so you're telling me my haircut from 2003 wasn't a bold life choice but just a learning experience, @ben402? Guess I'll have to re-label that entire shoebox of photos as "educational materials.
