Vent: Why does everyone love the Orion Nebula photos so much?

I tried processing a widefield shot of Barnard's Loop near Orion last month with my ZWO ASI533MC and got this hazy, faint mess that barely showed the nebula. Meanwhile everyone posts those crisp Orion Nebula shots and acts like it's the only thing worth looking at in that part of the sky. I learned that broadband filters on a suburban backyard setup just can't bring out that faint hydrogen detail, so maybe I need to stop chasing the hype. Has anyone else had better luck with a narrowband filter on Barnard's Loop from a light polluted spot like mine near Atlanta?

See the Orion shots as a gateway drug, not the whole point. Barnard's Loop is a tough beast even with narrowband from my light polluted yard, but the challenge is half the fun.

But are you getting good Ha data through all that LP? I keep fighting gradients where Barnard's Loop sits. Tried a 3nm filter last winter and still ended up with weird color casts. Did you have to redo your flats a bunch of times or something?
