$200 for a spray gun that sucked

Bought a cheap HVLP gun off Amazon. Thought I was saving money. First job with it and the finish was terrible. Orange peel everywhere. Had to sand it all down and respray. Wasted a whole weekend on a single fender. Cost me more in time and materials than if I'd just rented a decent gun. Anyone tried those pricey SATA guns? Worth the hype?

Ever tried painting with a jam jar and a straw? That's basically what I did with my first eBay special. You're not alone.

Stopped reading at "jam jar and a straw." Wait, you actually did that? Like you dipped a straw into jam, blew through it, and got raspberry seeds stuck all over your project? That's not painting, that's a crime scene. I have so many questions about cleanup and how you even got the jam to stick. That's a level of DIY that belongs in a museum of bad ideas.
