Been painting for 8 years and just realized I was using sealer wrong

Last month I did a full respray on an old Tacoma and the clear coat started fisheyeing on the second panel. I was popping them out and repainting for hours. My buddy stopped by and asked what sealer I was using and I showed him the gun. He laughed and pointed out I was spraying it on too wet and not letting it flash off long enough. He said 10 minutes minimum between coats for the sealer and I always did like 3. Has anyone else been making this kind of rookie mistake for way too long without knowing it?

The 10 minute flash off rule is one of those things that applies to half the stuff people do wrong in life, like letting bread dough rest or waiting for glue to tack up before pressing it together.

Yeah that's spot on. @davis.mia I remember the first time I tried to make sourdough and I didn't let the dough rest long enough before shaping it. Total brick. Then I tried again and waited like 20 minutes and it was way easier to work with. Same thing with painting miniatures. If you don't let the primer flash off you get that weird fuzzy texture nobody wants. It's funny how so many things in life just need you to put it down and walk away for a bit.
