Dropped a fender into the parts washer solvent and the customer walked in right as it splashed all over my apron
I was at my shop in Toledo last Thursday elbow deep in degreaser when that Ford Explorer fender slipped right out of my grip and sent solvent flying everywhere, the customer just stood there staring while I stood there dripping, has anyone else had a moment where the timing was just perfectly awful?

You know a buddy of mine? He did that with brake cleaner and a customer's white shirt.

Which is why I always keep a spare apron in the truck now. @jesse_west sounds like he learned that lesson the hard way too. The trick is to act like you meant to do it, just start scrubbing the fender on your own clothes like it's a new cleaning method. Customers usually get confused enough to back away slowly. I figure as long as it didn't hit their face, you're still in the clear.
