Finally gave in and bought a $60 infrared thermometer gun
I always figured my hand was good enough to check panel temps before painting. Then I missed a cold spot on a 2018 Ford F-150 fender last month and got a tiny solvent pop. One cheap gun later and I havent had the issue since. Anyone else resist a tool for way too long only to admit it actually saves time?

Funny how that works... you fight getting a tool for years and then wonder how you ever got by without it. Kinda makes you wonder what else we're all stubborn about for no reason.

That part about fighting a tool for years really hit me. I actually just read an article that said people resist new tech because their brain sees the learning curve as a threat, not an opportunity. Makes you wonder how many simple solutions we skip because we're too proud to admit there's a better way.
