Heat lamps for paint curing seem like overkill in my shop

Ngl, everyone around here swears by heat lamps for faster curing. Honestly, in our dry climate, I let things air dry and the results are just as good. Saved on electricity for a recent sedan.

Calling heat lamps overkill misses the POINT entirely. They give you a controlled cure every single time, which air drying just can't match. Dust and bugs LOVE to ruin a fresh air-dry job overnight. In a professional setting, faster curing means you can move cars out and bring new ones in, boosting your shop's output. Your dry climate might help, but one damp day could wreck a finish. That saved electricity doesn't matter if the job isn't PERFECT.

Yeah, a buddy learned the hard way (like @reed.wesley said about control) when morning dew wrecked his overnight air-dry job. Steady heat from a lamp would've saved him that whole re-do.
