Hit 200 paint jobs at my shop and noticed something weird

I just finished my 200th paint job since opening two years ago and realized I've been doing clear coat thickness totally wrong for the first 50 cars. Anybody else have a skill that took way too many tries to dial in?

That "first 50 cars" part hit close to home, my first 50 attempts at baking a cake looked like geological disasters.

Watched a buddy of mine try to learn guitar for two years and he hit the same wall. @troy_adams got it right with those cake disasters. I've noticed people tough out the first hundred tries at anything, then suddenly it clicks and they can't believe they ever did it the hard way. My neighbor painted his whole kitchen three times before admitting he needed a different brush type. It's like our brains need to fail a certain amount before they bother to figure out the shortcut.
