That time a customer taught me my masking tape technique was backwards
I had a guy come in last week with a 2010 Civic that had a horrendous home paint job. He was a retired painter, like houses not cars, and he watched me tape off a fender. He just laughed and said I was doing it backwards, pulling the tape instead of laying it. I tried his way of pressing it down as I go and honestly the lines came out cleaner with less bleed. Has anyone else had some random stranger drop a tip that actually made sense?

I mean I get it, tape technique matters but we're talking about masking tape not brain surgery right? Like as long as the line is straight and doesn't peel your paint who really cares how you got there.

Right?! I did a whole room with ripped scraps (don't judge me) and it turned out totally fine.
