Warning: dropped $700 on a "dent repair course" that taught me less than one afternoon with a real tech
I paid $700 for an online PDR course back in March because the ads made it look like I'd be pulling dents in a week. Turns out the whole thing was filmed in a garage with one light, half the glue pulling shots were out of focus, and the instructor skipped the part where you read the panel before you touch it. I wasted close to 40 hours on it, plus another $180 on tools they pushed that I never use. What got me actually moving was a guy named Ray at a shop in Modesto who let me watch him work a hail job for two afternoons, and he showed me more in three hours than that course did in two months. The course never mentioned heat control on aluminum or how to keep from cracking paint on a cold panel, which is the stuff that costs you a comeback. If you're new and thinking about one of these online PDR programs, ask to see raw unedited footage of a full repair first. What did you guys learn from, and did any course out there actually earn its price?
