Was totally wrong about using a stud welder on aluminum panels

I've been doing body work for about 8 years now and always avoided stud welders for aluminum. Thought it would just burn through or leave a mess. Then last month I had a 2017 F-150 with a dented tailgate at my shop in Cleveland. Tried my usual glue pulling method and it kept popping off after 3 tries. My buddy loaned me his stud welder setup for aluminum. Set it to low power, used the copper backing plate. Pulled that dent out in about 15 minutes with no warping. Now I feel like an idiot for avoiding it this long. Anyone else have a tool they slept on for years?

Aluminum stud welders are total game changers for thin skins, total opposite of steel work.
