Blew $140 on a fluid pump kit for a job a $15 turkey baster would've done

I finally admitted the fancy vacuum pump kit I bought in March was a waste after a guy at the parts counter in Dayton showed me he just siphons brake fluid with a baster and a clear hose. The catch is it took me two hours to clean out the kit's hoses, which is way longer than the job itself. Has anyone else got a drawer full of one-time-use tools like this?
