Brake fluid boiled on a downhill run, nearly took out a minivan

Last Saturday I was hauling a loaded trailer down I-70 near Eagle, Colorado and my pedal went soft right at the worst curve. Pulled over and the front calipers were smoking, brake fluid was dark brown and smelled burnt. Turns out the rubber lines were original from 2011, they were swelling and trapping heat in the system. Replaced all four lines with stainless braided ones and flushed with DOT 4, cost about $140 all in. Anyone else seen old rubber lines cause boiling even on normal street driving?
