Pro tip: My neighbor's story about his truck's mystery shake changed my approach
Honestly, I used to jump straight under the hood. After hearing how it only happened on cold mornings, I learned to ask about weather conditions first. Ngl, it saves so much time now.

That's a really good point about paying attention to the small things. Why do we always jump to the hard parts before checking the easy stuff? Your neighbor's trouble with cold mornings is a perfect example. Starting with a simple question about the weather can save so much time and effort. Makes you think about all the times we could have fixed things faster by just asking. Solid advice that hits home for anyone who's ever made a simple problem too hard.

Last week I bought batteries before checking if the remote just needed cleaning.

Totally get that. My old computer would randomly shut down and I was ready to replace the whole power supply. Turns out the fan was just clogged with dust and it was overheating. Spent weeks thinking it was something huge when a five minute clean fixed it all. Now I always check for dust or loose cables before I even open the manual. That kind of basic check feels obvious after the fact, but in the moment you just assume it's the worst case scenario.
