Rant: Stop using impact drivers on lug nuts, I just watched a kid wreck a rotor in Phoenix
He zipped all five lugs on with the impact set to max, then torqued them in a star pattern after the wheel was already seated, and that's how you get warped rotors and stripped studs, so why are shops still teaching this shortcut when a torque stick costs 30 bucks and takes 10 seconds to use?

That "torqued them in a star pattern after the wheel was already seated" part is exactly what gets me. I watched a guy at a tire shop do the same thing last month, zipped all five on with a gun, then hit them with the torque wrench like it fixed everything. Rotor was already warped by the time he finished, you could feel the pulsation driving out of the lot. People treat torque sticks like they're some fancy gadget, but it's just a spring that saves you a rotor and a stud.
