Spent $300 on a used scan tool back in 2010. Best money ever.

It was a basic OBD2 reader with some live data. Felt like a huge upgrade from just pulling codes with a light. Used it to diagnose a weird intermittent misfire on a Civic that was stumping everyone. Found a bad fuel trim reading the old way would have missed. Anyone still using an old workhorse tool like that?

My old Launch scanner from 2006 still finds weird EVAP leaks.

Actually, scanners don't find leaks, they just read codes. You still need a smoke machine to pinpoint it.

But can't a scanner show live data that points right at the leak?
