Talked to a young guy at the shop yesterday, made me feel old about torque wrenches

I was showing this kid around the shop, probably 19 or 20, fresh out of school. He asked me why I still use a beam style torque wrench on heads and I said it's just what I've always done. He laughed and said his instructor called them 'antiques' and showed me his digital one that beeps and records everything. I told him I've got one that's 15 years old and still dead on, but he pointed out how many times I've had to guess on hard to reach spots. It made me think, maybe I'm just stubborn. I'm not switching anytime soon but I did borrow his for a front strut job and it was way faster. What do you guys run for torque wrenches, old school or digital?

My beam style finally gave out on a tight frame rail bolt, grabbed a used digital on marketplace for fifty bucks and honestly haven't looked back since the first beep.

Ugh I was totally team beam for years ngl but @the_julia your post actually made me rethink it lol. Picked up a cheap digital after reading this and yeah the precision is just way better for tight spots like that.
