That cheap flexplate tool I rigged saved a 3 hour job

Got a 2011 F150 in the shop last Tuesday with a cracked flexplate. Pulling the trans was the plan but my buddy who normally loans me his puller was out of town. I took a length of 1/2 inch EMT conduit, flattened one end, and bent a 90 degree hook on it. Slid it between the block and flexplate to rotate the crank through the starter hole. Worked perfect for getting all the bolts out without dropping the trans. Has anyone else used a homemade tool like this when the specialty stuff is not on hand?

Ha, that's clever but you really should mark the bolt holes before spinning it, saved my ass once but ruined a starter.
