The 30 minute oil change that took me 2 hours in Boise

Stopped at a quick lube place off I-84 last Tuesday and watched them fumble a basic oil filter on a 2019 F-150. They cross threaded it, stripped the housing, and then had to call a mobile mechanic to fix their mess. Cost me $180 total and I was late for a job interview. I could have done it in my driveway for $45 and 20 minutes with a socket set. Has anyone else had a bad experience with those fast service chains, or is it just this location? I'm thinking about just doing my own maintenance from now on.
