Vent: a master tech in Bakersfield told me to stop pressure washing engine bays
I used to hit every engine bay with a pressure washer before a diag, thought a clean motor made me look sharp. A master tech at a shop off Chester Ave pulled me aside about 8 months ago and said the water gets into connectors and coil packs and I end up chasing codes I caused. He told me to use brake clean on a rag and low pressure air, and I fought him on it because it takes way more time. First car after that was a 2012 Silverado with a misfire, and with the bay dirty I found a cracked plug boot in 10 minutes instead of guessing. He was right about the risk, but I still keep my pressure washer for the frame rails and wheel wells. So where do you all draw the line, bay or no bay before a diag?
