Vent: The guy who swore his spark plugs were fine but the car wouldn't start
Had this dude come into the shop in Phoenix last Tuesday, 2008 Ford F-150, complaining it was cranking but not firing. He kept saying he just changed the plugs 6 months ago and they were fine. I pulled one out and it was completely fouled with oil, gap was way off. Should I have just replaced them and charged him, or should I have explained the valve cover gasket leak first? Has anyone else dealt with a customer who argues about basic diagnostics?

Nah you gotta tell them about the leak first, otherwise they'll be back in a week blaming you.

Disagree though. If you tell them about the leak, they're gonna think you messed up somehow. Let them find it themselves, then you come in as the hero who fixes it.
