Wasted $400 on a 'lifetime' serpentine belt that lasted 8 months
Honestly I thought I was being smart buying a 'lifetime warranty' belt from a big parts chain. Pay once and never deal with it again, right? 8 months later it started squealing like a stuck pig in the cold. Pulled it off and the ribs were cracked all down the inside. Took it back and they said the warranty only covers defects, not normal wear. So I wasted $400 on the belt and labor, plus the hassle of doing the job twice. Anyone else have luck with a certain brand that actually holds up?

Drop the cash on a Gates belt next time or just use the OEM one. A $400 lifetime belt is usually just them betting you'll lose the receipt or get tired of fighting them on the warranty.

Man, I once bought a "bulletproof" phone case that cracked the first time I dropped it.

Can confirm @the_emma, I bought a "military grade" case once and it gave up after one bump off the nightstand. These warranties are basically a bet that you'll lose the paperwork or just not bother. Best bet is to watch some actual drop test videos before buying anything.
