Hauling my Civic from Phoenix to Portland: open trailer or enclosed?

When I moved up to Portland three years ago I had to pick between an open trailer quote of $850 and an enclosed one for $1,400 for my old Civic. I went cheap with the open trailer and of course it rained through Wyoming, so the car showed up filthy with a fresh rock chip on the hood. Still kinda wonder if the extra $550 would've been worth it. Anyone here actually pay for enclosed and feel like it paid off?
