Appreciation post: spent 6 hours last Tuesday chasing a ghost on a Garmin G1000 and the wiring diagram finally made sense
Last Tuesday was one of those days where nothing wanted to cooperate. Had a Baron come in with an intermittent AHRS fault and I probably pulled that unit twice before I even found the real problem. Turns out a pin in the connector had backed out just enough to lose contact when the airframe flexed on the ground run, and I found it with a $12 pin extractor and a wiggle test after about 6 hours of head scratching. What made the day stand out was getting a call from the owner that night saying the fault never came back on his flight to Wichita. Some days this trade humbles you for hours and then rewards you in one clean run. Has anyone else run into those backed out pins on the G1000 harnesses or is that just a fluke on this airframe?
