Benchtop vs handheld multimeter for troubleshooting...

I've been using a Fluke 87 handheld for 5 years now and it's always felt fine for most jobs. But last week I borrowed a bench DMM from a buddy to track down a weird voltage drift on a King Radio nav unit, and wow the difference was huge. The bench meter gave me stable readings down to 0.001mV without any noise from my hand or the leads moving around. Has anyone else switched to a bench meter for avionics work and felt it was worth the bench space?

Bet on that bench meter making your life easier once you get used to the extra space it takes up.

Hold the probes steady and you can get the same readings with a handheld.
