Hot take: I swore by solder sleeves for shield terminations until a retired guy in Amarillo showed me his way
For 6 years I would not touch anything but solder sleeves on a shielded bundle, mostly because it is what I got taught and it always passed the ring out check. Last month this old timer walked me through doing the same job with a pigtail and a crimp, and 14 terminations later not one of them moved on the pull test, so now I am wondering how much of my 'that is the only right way' was just habit. Anybody here made that same switch or am I about to get roasted?
