Just found out older King Air 90s don't have the same pitot heat setup as the 200s

I was reading through some maintenance logs on a 1978 King Air C90 this morning and noticed the pitot heat system is wired completely different from the 200 series I usually work on. Turns out the older ones use a separate circuit breaker panel for the pitot heat that isn't even in the main breaker bank. Blew my mind because I've been chasing a fault on one for two days and now I know where to look. Has anyone else run into weird quirks between the King Air models that caught you off guard?

Honestly, have you ever noticed how stuff from the same brand but different years can just be totally different inside? It's like how some older cars have fuses in weird spots under the dash while newer ones just have it all in one box. Ngl, that kinda inconsistency drives me nuts because you think you know a system and then it throws you a curveball. It's like life in general, where you expect things to work the same way but they just don't. Tbh, that's probably why I like working on older stuff sometimes, at least you know where to start looking for weird stuff.

Same brand, different year, completely different creature sometimes. It's like how restaurants keep the same name but change the whole menu and vibe when new owners take over. You walk in expecting your usual, and suddenly nothing you loved is there. That inconsistency is part of why I keep a mental map of everything, because assumptions just get you stuck. Older stuff feels more honest in a way, the quirks are part of its personality, not a hidden bug. Newer stuff tries to be clean and uniform, but that's almost worse when it fails, because you have nowhere to look.
