Just realized my old boss in Tulsa was right about the manuals
Had a beer with a guy who used to work on F-16s and he said, 'The book is faster than your brain after 2am.' Blew a whole Friday night on a 737 comms fault because I was sure I'd seen it before. How do you fight the urge to skip the first step?

The book is faster than your brain after 2am" is such a perfect line. Is it just about being tired, or is it more that the memory of a past fix feels so real you trust it over the actual checklist?

Wait, what if it's about how tiredness makes you skip steps you know you should do?
