My friend asked me to check his garage door opener because I 'do electronics on planes'.

Haha, the "do electronics on planes" line reminds me of my friend who fixes laptops. His neighbor once begged him to look at their smart fridge because it "has a computer inside". People assume one tech skill applies to everything, but that's rarely how it works.

Lol, @young.jessica, that's hilarious. My buddy who works on cars gets asked to fix lawnmowers all the time since they both have engines. People really do think one skill covers it all.

My uncle used to call me for every broken appliance just because I built my own PC once. I honestly thought all electronics were pretty much the same back then. But trying to fix his microwave showed me how wrong I was. Circuit boards in planes versus garage door openers are worlds apart, you know? Why do we expect experts in one field to magically know another? Now I see that specialized skills don't always translate like that.
