My lead tech swore by dielectric grease on every connector
Tom said to always put dielectric grease on avionics connectors. I argued it just attracts dirt and causes intermittent faults. After 6 months of following his advice on a King radio stack, I had zero corrosion issues on a plane based in Tampa. The humidity there is brutal. Anyone else had a bad experience skipping the grease on wet-leased aircraft?

Dielectric grease is a lifesaver in humid climates. Tampa will teach you that quick.

Dielectric grease on avionics connectors is one of those things where you either swear by it or you end up chasing ghosts in the harness. Tampa humidity is no joke, I've seen connectors that looked like they were growing moss after one rainy season without it. The trick is you gotta use it right, put a thin coat on the connector faces but don't goop it on so thick it traps moisture or messes with pin contact. @olivia554 is spot on, that stuff saves you from chasing corrosion gremlins later. Skipping it on a wet lease where the planes sit outside? You're asking for trouble, especially on a King stack that isn't sealed half as good as newer stuff. Just keep it clean and fresh when you open connectors, and you'll be fine.
