Pinched a wiring harness on a 737 door plug, got lucky on the inspection
Was doing a pre-departure check on a 737-800 in Phoenix last Thursday. The door plug handle felt stiff, so I popped the panel to look. Turns out the previous shift had routed a sensor harness right against the linkage. When the door closed, it pinched two wires. Insulation was cracked but the conductors were still intact. If that had shorted mid-flight, it's a different story. I re-routed it with new clamps and flagged it in the log. How often do you guys catch stuff like that on routine checks, or is it always after something fails?
