Shoutout to that avionics shop in Tucson that showed me their bench setup

I was passing through last week and noticed they had all their test equipment on rolling carts with dedicated power strips and cable management, which got me wondering how much time I waste walking back and forth to fixed workstations, has anyone else tried mobile benches in their hangar?

Rolling benches changed my whole workflow. Bought a cheap utility cart from Home Depot and bolted a power strip to it. Now I just wheel everything over to the airplane instead of running back and forth. Saved me hours on avionics swaps alone. Cable management on mine is just zip ties but it works. Once you go mobile you never go back.

alicea26, you mentioned "cable management is just zip ties" and I'd gently push back on that being enough for a rolling bench. Zip ties work fine for static setups, but the constant movement and vibration can cause them to loosen or snag on stuff over time. I'd swap those for reusable Velcro straps instead, they're easier to adjust when you inevitably move things around and won't leave you with a tangled mess after a few trips across the hangar.
