I keep seeing people mess up the timing for the Enchantments through hike in Washington

I mean, everyone says to go in late September for the larches, but that's way too late for a good snow-free trip now. I did it in early September last year and the snow was already starting on Aasgard Pass. I think the sweet spot is really the last two weeks of August now. Has anyone else noticed the season shifting earlier?

Is the snowline moving that much year to year though? I feel like last summer was weirdly cold and wet, so your early September trip might have been an outlier. I went in mid-September a couple years back and it was totally fine, no snow at all on the pass.

Late September for larches? Yeah, good luck finding the trail under a foot of snow by then. Guess we're all just playing Russian roulette with the weather now.
