Had a terrible bird watching week, then a blue jay showed up
I was ready to give up on my backyard feeder after a whole week of nothing but house sparrows showing up. Then this blue jay landed on the tray, grabbed three whole peanuts, and just stared at me for a solid minute before flying off. Has anyone else had a bird make you change your whole opinion about a feeder location?

Three weeks of nothing but starlings at my place. Felt exactly the same way you did. Then a blue jay showed up and cleaned out my suet feeder in like ten minutes. Made me dig out the old platform feeder I'd given up on. That jay owned the spot for the whole rest of the winter.

My neighbor Martha had the same thing happen with a blue jay last spring @benwilliams.
