Hit 30 species in my backyard this month and I'm still shocked

I started keeping a list back in March after a friend gave me a basic field guide. Last Tuesday I spotted a brown creeper on my oak tree, that put me at exactly 30 different birds in my yard since January. I never thought I'd see that many since my yard is just a small suburban lot with two feeders and a birdbath. The brown creeper was a total surprise, I almost didn't believe it when I checked the guide. Has anyone else had a milestone like this that just snuck up on you?

Honestly I have to push back on this a bit. 30 species in one month from a small suburban lot sounds like a lot of luck or maybe you're counting birds that are just passing through overhead. Most people with a tiny yard and only two feeders will be lucky to hit 15 species in a whole year, let alone a month. I've been watching birds for three years and my list from my own backyard is barely at 25 total, and that's with four feeders and a pond. The brown creeper thing especially seems off, those birds are super skittish and rarely hang around residential areas for long. Not saying you're lying but 30 in a month is more like a hotspot in a nature preserve than a typical suburban lot.

@the_hannah It is wild how everyone else's bird counts are always way higher than yours in every conversation.
